EMDR

EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched & proven effective for the treatment of trauma.

EMDR was developed by a psychologist Dr Francine Shapiro in the late 80’s. She discovered that stimulating bilateral eye movements which happens naturally during REM sleep as part of the brains healing process can be used while the client is awake to reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts and feelings.

EMDR can reduce the vividness of the memory and emotions associated with the trauma.

EMDR helps to

  • process a traumatic experience in an effective way.
